Arcade Manufacturing Inc. founded as the Novelty Iron Works around 1866 by Jerome B. Hazen. Two of his nephews, Edward H. and Charles Morgan, started to work for him while still in their teens. Later the Morgan brothers continued to do the business at the small factory that was on the corner of Chicago and Jackson Streets with ten employees. Around 1874, the company was reorganized as the Arcade Manufacturing Company with its great expansion.

The Crystal No. 1 was the first glass hopper mill produced by Arcade. This mill has it’s original un-embossed lid and hopper and a replacement catch cup.
